One of the special features of the Göcsej landscape is the forest railway network, which still significantly transports timber and harvested wood today. Of course, many tourists also use it since decades ago when the railway was opened to the traveling public. The tourist train connects the most beautiful and picturesque tourist attractions in the region between Lenti and Kistolmács.
From Zalakaros, just 22 kilometers away, you'll find the rugged Sziklaszurdok (Rocky Canyon) in Nagybakonak, where brave and adventurous hikers can enrich their experiences with thrilling adventures and unforgettable memories.
At the animal petting zoo, visitors have the opportunity to get to know the animals of the puszta up close. They can pet many bunnies, ducklings, lambs, goat kids, ponies, buffaloes, and miniature pigs, but they can also meet other interesting, adorable, and curious small animals. They can ride ponies, and even fulfill the dream of many little girls by participating in a family carriage ride to Lake Kis-Balaton.
Located 35 km from Zalakaros, Festetics Castle is one of the most significant landmarks in Keszthely. Its construction began in the mid-18th century, but its final form was achieved only in the late 1800s after extensive renovations and expansions. Today, as the third largest castle in Hungary, the baroque complex operates as a museum and visitor center, welcoming visitors year-round.

This was our second time returning to the Belenus Hotel, and once again, we were not disappointed! It is a very cozy, friendly, and charming hotel with a superb little wellness area that perfectly crowns a weekend getaway, along with great food at every meal.
