Zalakaros

Hungary’s smallest town is located in the south-western part of the country among the hills of county Zala. It became famous for its discovered thermal water 35 years ago. During a searching sink people discovered 96 degrees thermal water that can be classified as sulphur thermal water because of the special composition.

It proved to be effective in healing chronic gynaecological troubles, paradentitis, and chronic arthritis and in the after-treatment of patients suffering from orthopaedic, nerve-surgical and surgical loco motor disorders. An international airport at Sármellék, a mere 17 km from the town helps to reach it more easily for guests.

The bath

The covered bath has 3 sitting thermal basins, 1 thermal pool and a cold water pool welcome the guests. Outdoors you can find a tense water surface swimming pool, 2 sitting thermal basins and 2 thermal water pools. The sitting thermal base is usually heated on 37degrees, the thermal pools are 26-28 degrees hot.

In the nicely built medical centre there are sitting thermal basins, bubble bath with CO2 blowing, thermal basins and Jacuzzi. Thermal water treatments are the following: flow massage under water, weight bath and electrotherapy treatment is also available. The spa was completed with a fun bath in March 1999, then with a swimming pool with artificial waves in the summer of 2002.

Free time

Due to its natural and infrastructural potentials the town does its best to please its guests. You can find the wonderful Kis-Balaton nature reserve nearby, the bison reserve and the beaches of Lake Balaton some 20-25 km away welcome visitors.

Besides, there are several open-air folklore nights, concerts and excellent theatre performances organised by the local authorities. The annual beer-, wine-, and floral festivities attract thousands of people to our town. Cultural events like partying in the streets, operetta nights and concerts make the visitors’ days even more enjoyable.
